Wormsloe Plantation

Wormsloe Plantation was a large estate established by Noble Jones, one of Georgia's colonial founders.  Noble Jones originally obtained a 500-acre land grant on the Skidaway River in 1736, this would form the core of Wormsloe.  Jones subsequently developed Wormsloe into a small plantation, and his descendants continued the process. The State of Georgia acquired the bulk of the Wormsloe Plantation in 1973 and opened it as an 800-acre state historic site in 1979.
