Blue Mosque
The Blue Mosque was built between 1609 and 1616 under the rule of Sultan Ahmet I. Istanbul was the capital of the Ottoman Empire from 1453 to 1923.
Some of the blue tiles, for which the Mosque gains its name, can be seen in the ceiling below.
